Iron Maidens

Loved Iron Man, which surprised me.  I haven’t liked an action movie since the Bourne series.  I tend to favor well written dialogue and character development over special effects, and my little brain cannot process most things sci-fi or techy.  This one had great character development and well written dialogue and was both entertaining and somewhat thought-provoking.  Also, I would watch Robert Downey Jr. do an interpretive reading of the phone book.

Afterwards, we went to Betty’s for the pan roasted chicken and Perfect Manhattans.  I rarely order chicken in a restaurant, but goddamn if their preparation isn’t simply perfect.  Crispy skin, succulent and juicy on the inside, with perfect side dishes.

The trailers before Iron Man (at the Cinerama, which is the best place in town to see a movie) were all action flicks.  None looked particularly interesting except The Hulk, which is probably due to the Ed Norton factor).

Mostly, I couldn’t believe how many kids under 10 were there, and many were toddlers.  They were fidgeting, distracting, and bothersome.   Hell, I hate to go to the movies when I have a cough, lest I detract from someone else’s escapist entertainment.  I saw several engrossed parents completely ignore their kids, who were running in and out of the theater.  The ADD generation is going to be a huge pain in the ass.
